Wednesday June 5th 2013 at 18:00
The first Transformer event in 2013 is planed in a collaboration with curator Helga Marie Nordby and nyMusikk. The Norwegian contemporary composer Nils Henrik Asheim has developed Guitar Machine. A performative, sculptural piece for 50 guitarists in a mix of professionals and young amateurs.Guitarists from different musical backgrounds, ages and schools are recruited in as performers. Every guitarist brings their own amplifier and a few effect pedals. The music performed is massive, vibrant, funky and industrial. It can be described sonically and visually as a giant machine.Piece was originally performed outside the Tou Scene in Stavanger. It was rigged as a six-story scaffolding, with 8 guitarists on each floor. 2,000 people showed up at the concert, which lasted in ca 25 minutes and highlighted Tou Scenes 10th anniversary.

Guitar Machine In Oslo is a further development of this work.

The work performed as part of nyMusikk. Only Connect festival on Wednesday 5 June on Rintala Eggertson architects custom built architectural structure.

Transformer is a development project for reclaim of urban scars and leftover sites. The project aims to reverse these negative processes by educating and raising awareness of the ongoing situations, and implement a process where some of these sites can be liberated for public use. This process will take place on three levels: a) identifying urban scars and leftover sites by engaging in a dialogue with real estate owners, b) free the sites for temporary public use by establishing a dialogue between land owners and art producers and c) building arenas where children can experience art in public space.

Transformer is developed by ROMVigdis Storsveen and Rintala Eggertson Architects. In 2011 Transformer won Arts Council Norway idea competition, Kunstarena for de unge (Art venus for young people).
